Report: Davis, ��ҵ�� Add Housing for Nearly 7,000 Over 6 Years

Housing developed within the City of Davis and on the ��ҵ�� campus over the last six years added accommodation for almost 7,000 more residents by fall 2022, according to a new report.

The Joint Housing Report from ��ҵ��, Davis and Yolo County was released today (May 16).

Hundreds of freshmen will move into the newest residence hall at the ��ҵ��, this weekend as the campus welcomes thousands of new students.

Regents Approve Expansion of West Village Housing

The regents of the University of California have approved plans to build new housing for 3,265 students at ��ҵ�� West Village. Plans for the development, which will accommodate primarily transfer students and continuing undergraduates, were presented July 18 during the regents’ meeting at UC San Francisco.

Regents to Consider ��ҵ�� Long Range Development Plan

The ��ҵ��, will formally submit its new Long Range Development Plan and accompanying Environmental Impact Report for approval at the next meeting of the UC Regents, July 18. Once approved, the new plan, which includes capacity for an additional 2 million square feet of academic and administrative space and up to 9,050 beds of new on-campus housing, will go into effect.

Proposals Sought to Build Housing for More Than 2,700 Students

��ҵ�� is seeking proposals to build housing providing more than 2,775 beds for students with families as well as graduate and transfer students, to open by 2020. The successful proposals will optimize affordability and build community.

The ��ҵ��, has begun the next phase of preparation of a new Long Range Development Plan, inviting public comments on the scope of the environmental impact report that will be prepared for the plan.

Russell Field Housing Dropped from LRDP

Campus planners have removed all proposed student housing from Russell Field, in the latest draft of the 2017 Long-Range Development Plan.

Assistant Vice Chancellor Bob Segar, in charge of Campus Planning and Environmental Stewardship, will provide an informational update to the Davis City Council tonight (Dec. 6) with the new proposal, which is reflected in changes made to the Campus Tomorrow website (you may need to refresh the webpage). Ultimately, the UC Board of Regents will consider the LRDP for approval.

Long-Range Development Plan, Revised

First came the initial planning concepts, then the preliminary planning scenario and now a revision called the draft planning scenario — all this the result of a year and a half of planning and community feedback, leaving one year to go in ��ҵ��’ update of the campus’s Long-Range Development Plan.

The ��ҵ�� is today (May 16) releasing a preliminary update to the 2017 Long Range Development Plan. This preliminary planning scenario refines the initial planning concepts shared with the community over the past six months and reflects the collaborative engagement with senior city staff and council leadership, as well as valuable community feedback regarding enrollment growth and local housing capacity.
